President Barack Obama

I was so worried about the Bradley Effect and voter suppression and all manner of ugly things. But instead of mourning the death of our promising Republic, I can celebrate unabashedly. And cry tears of joy. I've done both immoderately and have forgiven myself for all the excess. If excess is indeed the appropriate word. Perhaps not.
November 5, 2008. Mark this date in your diaries, people. We have witnessed something wonderful and amazing. This is the most important moment of history in my lifetime. Yes, even more momentous than the JFK death or anything else. In my life I have seen scenes in American streets that sickened and stunned me. I have seen the words "Liberty and Justice for All" spit on and desecrated. But today? I have never been more proud to be an American. NEVER! Today there is no such thing as hyperbole. It is probably impossible to overestimate this election and what it means to and about all of us.
We did it!! For the first time in American history we have elected a black man to be President of the United States.
